Klein Tools Signs Multi-Year Sponsorship Deal to Extend Relationship With Andretti Green Racing
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 8, 2004) - Andretti Green Racing (AGR) announced today it has signed a multi-year contract agreement with Klein Tools, Inc. to continue in its role as a co-major sponsor of the #26 Honda-powered Dallara driven by Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series driver Dan Wheldon.
The agreement calls for Klein Tools to retain its prominent position on the #26 entry as a co-major sponsor. Klein Tools became a co-major sponsor at the start of the 2003 IndyCar Series season, which coincided with Andretti Green's formation and entry into the Indy Racing League.
"Klein Tools has been an important piece of the foundation of Andretti Green Racing and is sure to be a big part of our success for a long time," said Michael Andretti, who owns Andretti Green Racing along with Kim Green and Kevin Savoree. "As an industry leader, Klein Tools stays focused on producing world-class products and refuses to settle for anything but being the best. We share those same ideals at Andretti Green Racing, and that makes Klein Tools a great partner for us. Its relationship with the nucleus of our team goes back more than a decade and those types of relationships are invaluable."
Klein Tools has been involved in motorsports since 1994 when it became an associate sponsor of driver Jacques Villeneuve and Forsythe-Green Racing. Villeneuve went on to win the 1995 Indianapolis 500 and also a CART championship that season with the Klein Tools logo emblazoned on the side of the car's cockpit. Klein Tools continued as a sponsor of Team Green through 2002 and then moved into the role of co-major sponsor with Jim Beam in 2003 on Wheldon's car while continuing at the associate sponsor level on the other Andretti Green Racing machines.
"Klein Tools and our employees are extremely excited to be able to continue our relationship with Andretti Green Racing," said Richard T. Klein, Jr., chairman and CEO of Klein Tools, Inc. "In striving to manufacture the world's finest professional-grade hand tools, we feel that our partnership with Andretti Green Racing presents us with first-hand opportunities to be on the cutting edge of auto racing equipment and technology. This partnership continues to strengthen our reputation as world-class producers of hand tools and protective equipment."
