Orlando, Florida, January 6, 2000 - Galles ECR Racing driver, Al Unser Jr., completed the 2nd day of his first open test with the Indy Racing League at Walt Disney World Speedway today. The test was in preparation of Unser's inaugural Indy Racing League event on January 29th at Walt Disney World Speedway. Unser's fast time for the two-day test was 21.821 and he ran a total of 260 laps.
Al Unser Jr. Quote (Galles ECR Driver) -
"I feel that this was a very good test. The car ran flawlessly and my crew is doing a great job. I need more time to figure out the car to get it quicker and I need to learn track, but we are going to test here again on January 19th and 20th, so I think that we will accomplish more during those two days.
"My main goal going into this test was to stay running the whole time to get a feel for everything, and the Galles ECR team has given me great reliability so far. I am very pleased with the entire organization. I feel that our G-Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone package is strong, and that gives the whole team more confidence going into the first race. The times out there were pretty close, and I can see now after running at this track why that is so. It is a tight race track but it is also very smooth, and it should make for some good racing."
Rick Galles Quote (Galles ECR Owner) -
"I am very impressed with the way the team and Al are all getting used to working together. We are taking our time with everything in order to get Al acclimated to the new track and new cars, but he seems to have gotten a good grasp on everything.
"We are going to come back here and test again in a few weeks, and then we can really begin to work on our race day strategies. This group out there these past two days was fast, and it is definitely going to be a competitive season. I think we are going to see some great racing this year."
