ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 30, 2007) -- The Panther Racing team has moved from the high-speed oval of Homestead to the tricky and exciting road course for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg this Sunday. Friday marked the first day of practice and the results are listed below.
Kosuke Matsuura No. 55 Panasonic Panther Honda Dallara
"The 55 Panasonic Panther team did a great job today. We had a good time today. I wish I had the right setup in the first session, but I like this track and I like my car. We are going to continue to try to improve as we get ready to qualify tomorrow. We had an unlucky accident in Homestead but the Panther guys did a great job fixing the car and working all week."
Vitor Meira No. 4 Delphi Panther Honda Dallara
"It's the first day we're together again on a road course. We thought we would be a little quicker, but it's early in the weekend. The Delphi Panther team will be strong, and even though we have work to do, we are ahead of where we were a year ago, when we finished fifth in the race. We'll be good for Sunday."
Hideki Mutoh (IPS) No. 55 Panther Indy Pro Car
"I couldn't get a clear lap during the second session so I couldn't practice things I wanted to do in that session. We tried the setup I wanted but my time didn't improve so we put the car back to the previous setup and it was better. I wanted more time to practice but after the car in front of me spun at the end, I spun as well and the session was over. I am looking forward to the race tomorrow and hope to show a good performance in the race."
