CARPENTER ADVANCES FIVE SPOTS AT MID OHIO
Ed Carpenter Finishes 22nd in Today's Race at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course

LEXINGTON, OH. (August 7, 2011)- It was a beautiful day, bearing a nice breeze in Mid Ohio, as Ed Carpenter raced his No. 67 Dollar General Honda powered Dallara through the rolling hills of the 13-turn, 2.25-mile permanent road course in Lexington, Ohio. Sarah Fisher Racing's (SFR) Ed Carpenter finished in the 22nd position in the Honda Indy 200 at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, after a challenging day on the circuit.

The 30-year old Paris, IL native started the race in the 27th position and had managed to make his way up to 25th by lap 10. The SFR crew completed two flawless pit stops, helping Carpenter with track position.

The race day started with a morning practice session for all drivers. Carpenter posted a time of 01:12.58, continuing his learning curve of road racing. Target Chip Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon was fastest during the morning session, clocking a time of 01:09.5.

"It wasn't the most fun weekend, but for myself being a year and half off from doing this and the team being a year off, I feel like we made good progress on race day," said Carpenter. "We closed the time gap further and were on pace with a lot of cars. We had one bad stint at the end on the blacks, but I'm happy we made progress, closed the gap, and managed to stay clean today. The SFR guys did a great job in the pits today. It's hard to say I'm excited to go to another road course, but at the same time we're making progress and the only way to get better at this is to do more. I'm looking forward to Sonoma, but first we're going to go to New Hampshire and try to get a win there."
