Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Is Ready For The Iowa Corn Indy 250
After a strong result in Milwaukee last weekend, the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing team is prepared for the eighth round of the IZOD IndyCar Series this weekend in Newton, Iowa. Piloting the DRR machines for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 will be Brit Justin Wilson in the No. 22 Dad's Root Beer entry and, rookie, Ana Beatriz, who will be driving the No. 24 Ipiranga car.
The team is looking forward to getting back to familiar ground as they will be visiting Iowa Speedway for the fifth time. In 2007, Buddy Rice finished 5th after starting 17th and in 2009 both of the team's cars finished in the top-ten (Scheckter-6th, Conway 9th). Last year DRR finished 9th with Graham Rahal and led 11 laps.
Justin Wilson earned a 10th place result in Milwaukee last weekend, giving Dad's Root Beer their third consecutive top-10 finish on Father's (Dad's) day. This year will mark the Brit's fourth time to compete at Iowa Speedway. He finished 12th in his first start at the track in 2008 after starting 20th. In 2009, contact ended his day early after starting tenth. Last year, he started 11th and on the first lap Wilson suffered an early exit from the race when he got loose through Turn 3 and spun into the wall, collecting KV Racing's Mario Moraes on the way, finishing in 24th position. Since joining the IZOD IndyCar Series in 2008, Wilson has recorded eight top-10 finishes (2008: Kansas-9th, Milwaukee-7th, Richmond-7th, 2009: Chicagoland-10th, Homestead-10th, 2010: Indianapolis-7th, Chicago-7th, 2011: Milwaukee-10th) on ovals. He has led on an oval twice, (2008--Kansas led for five laps, 2010-Indianapolis 500-led for 11 laps). Wilson's best qualifying position on an oval was 6th position at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2010.
Rookie, Ana Beatriz proved that she has got what it takes. The Brazilian, secured her best IZOD IndyCar career qualifying result in Milwaukee last weekend with an 11th place starting spot. She hung in during the intense, action-packed race and finished in 17th place, her best result on an oval in IndyCar. Beatriz will be making her third appearance to Iowa Speedway, but her first in the top level of the sport. In 2008, she made her first start there in the Firestone Indy Lights Series where she started 6th and finished 3rd. In 2009, she started 6th and won the Indy Lights race.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will be on track for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 in Newton, Iowa on June 25th. The race telecast will air live on Saturday, June 25th at 8:00 pm (ET) on VERSUS. For more updates on the team, please visit www.dreyerreinboldracing.com.
What they have to say about the Iowa Corn Indy 250:
Justin Wilson, No. 22 Dad's Root Beer: "Our car was really fast in Iowa last year. I think we have a good baseline to start with. We'll see if we can tweak it and make some improvements and go racing."
Ana Beatriz, No. 24 Ipiranga: "This will be my first time to compete in an IndyCar at Iowa, but I have great memories from there when I raced in Indy Lights and I won. Hopefully we will have a great racecar and put a race weekend together and finish well."
