Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Qualified 12Th And 18Th For The Iowa Corn Indy 250
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing qualified for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 in Newton, Iowa today. The team's drivers Justin Wilson (No. 22 Dad's Root Beer) and Ana Beatriz (No. 24 Ipiranga) qualified 12th and 18th respectively.
Wilson will be making his fourth appearance at Iowa Speedway this weekend as he qualified 12th for tomorrow's race. He recorded a two lap qualifying speed of 178.631 mph (Lap 1-178.563 mph, Lap 2-178.700 mph). He finished 12th in his first start at the track in 2008 after starting 20th. In 2009, contact ended his day early after starting tenth. Last year, he started 11th, his best qualifying effort at this track, but on the first lap Wilson suffered an early exit from the race when he got loose through Turn 3 and spun into the wall, collecting KV Racing's Mario Moraes on the way, finishing in 24th position.
This will be Beatriz's first time to compete in the top level of the sport at Iowa Speedway. Although this will be her first start as an IZOD IndyCar driver at the .875-mile oval, she is making her third visit to the track. In 2008, she made her first start in Iowa in the Firestone Indy Lights Series where she started 6th and finished 3rd. In 2009, she started 6th and won the Indy Lights race. The Brazilian will start 18th tomorrow after recording a two lap average qualifying speed of 177.821 mph (Lap 1-177.542 mph, Lap 2-178.101 mph).
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will be on track for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 in Newton, Iowa on June 25th. The race telecast will air live on Saturday, June 25th at 8:00 pm (ET) on VERSUS. For more updates on the team, please visit www.dreyerreinboldracing.com.
What they have to say about the Iowa Corn Indy 250:
Justin Wilson, No. 22 Dad's Root Beer: "The Dad's Root Beer car was pretty good for qualifying. We had a little push in the middle and we were also going loose. I definitely had to work on it out there. I think that the key is working on a good racecar for tomorrow so that we can be consistent throughout the race. If we can do that, we will have a good day and hopefully bring the Dad's Root Beer car hope with a strong result."
Ana Beatriz, No. 24 Ipiranga: "It was a hard run. I think that we improved the Ipiranga car, but it wasn't as fast as it was this morning, which was a little bit disappointing. The most important thing to do right now is to focus on the race and have a fast car that is fast in traffic so that we can move up positions."
