ANOTHER TOP SIX FOR BOURDAIS
Sonoma, California (August 28, 2011)--- Sebastien Bourdais capped off a successful weekend at Infineon Raceway as he drove the #19 Boy Scouts of America car to its fourth consecutive top-ten finish this season as he finished sixth. This week’s finish marks the third sixth place finish for Bourdais this season.
After qualifying eighth yesterday, Bourdais held his ground throughout the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma. Both Bourdais and James Jakes, driver of the #18 Acorn Stairlifts car, had clean runs.
“I’m very happy with our finish,” Bourdais said. “The team deserves this, they’ve worked so hard this weekend. We got all we could out of the car and finished the day with no major problems, so I can’t ask for much more than that.”
Both Dale Coyne Racing cars had great weekends as they were consistently in the top-ten during each of the practice sessions. During this morning’s warm-up session, Bourdais finished fifth and rookie Jakes finished fourth out of the field of 28 cars. However, Jakes’ starting position of 17th made it difficult for him to pass during the race with just one caution period.
“Thanks to all the guys for all the great work this weekend,” Jakes said. “We showed some great speed all through the weekend. Now we just need to make sure we translate that speed into qualifying so we can start the races where I know we can. We’re improving every week and I’m looking forward to next week at Baltimore.”
