RAIN ABBREVIATES PRACTICE DAY SIX FOR SFR AT INDY
Fisher Wheels 40 laps; Howard 41
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 20, 2010)- Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) drivers, Sarah Fisher and Jay Howard, were able to clock off some laps just after the noon hour (ET) today, before the gray swollen clouds delivered the inevitable- rain. Howard, behind the wheel of the No. 66 Service Central car, turned 41 laps on the 2.5-mile oval, as he reeled off his fastest lap of the month today with a speed of 224.000. Fisher, in her No. 67 Dollar General machine, completed the day with 40 laps. The practice session ended an hour early due to rain, leaving Fisher unable to practice following afternoon changes to the car.
Sarah Fisher: "The 67 Dollar General car had a different strategy today with the weather looking ominous for tomorrow. We decided to split strategies with the 66 car to tackle more than one area. I'm pretty confident in the changes we made this afternoon, but I just wish we had more track time today. I'm hoping the weather works in our favor for our last full day of practice tomorrow."
Jay Howard: "I am pretty happy about how today went for the Service Central car. We gained speed throughout practice and finished the day strong. During the rain delay, I decided to decorate my helmet by having fans sign it. I even had my #1 fan, Bailey Ebaugh, from the Alley Cats, sign and leave a note on my helmet. I really hope the weather cooperates tomorrow so we can continue to improve the car, leading into qualifying."
Practice for all Indianapolis 500 entrants will resume from noon-6pm tomorrow for "Fast Friday," the final full day of practice before qualifications.
