RAIN RETURNS TO IMS ON FAST FRIDAY AS TEAMS PREPARE FOR QUALIFICATIONS
Fisher and Howard Back on Track in Preparation for Qualifications
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 21, 2010)- Jay Howard, of Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR), clocked his fastest lap of the month so far Friday afternoon, in his No. 66 Service Central machine, at 224.017 mph in preparation for tomorrow's qualifying run. In between the brief periods of rain, Howard was able to complete 53 laps. Teammate to Howard and SFR team owner, Sarah Fisher, turned 59 laps on the famed 2.5-mile oval in Indianapolis, focusing on race set-up for the No. 67 Dollar General Honda powered Dallara.
Sarah Fisher: "We're really working hard to get the Dollar General car to where we need to it to be. I'm thankful that the weather held off today, and we weren't under a yellow too much because of rain. We really needed that extra time in the car to figure some things out. I'm hoping tomorrow goes well for not only myself, but also for my teammate."
Jay Howard: "The weather was actually good to us today. Don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing, but we will find out tomorrow. We made changes throughout the day to the car and feel good about our progress during this week of practice. Fingers crossed I can get the Service Central car in the show on the first day of qualifying."
All Indianapolis 500 entrants will return to the track for a practice session tomorrow morning before the drivers will attempt to make their way into the field of 33 starting positions during qualifications.
