Pre-qualifying practice at Indianapolis Motor Speedway held true to practice form on Saturday morning as Team Penske's Will Power paced all competitors with a fast lap of 227.646 mph to record the fastest speed of the month. FAZZT Racing's Alex Tagliani continued a speedy challenge lain on Friday with a 227.513 mark of his own, followed by Power teammate Ryan Briscoe on a lap of 226.829 mph. Chip Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon ran fourth at 226.570 mph and HP de Ferran Dragon Racing's Davey Hamilton kept stride with a lap at 226.415 mph.

Power's lap eclipses Helio Castroneves fastest lap of May 16 at 227.046 mph on the second day of 2010 Indianapolis 500 practice. Dario Franchitti, Dan Wheldon, Tony Kanaan, Helio Castroneves and Justin Wilson also took laps and posted speeds into the top ten of the brief morning session leading into today's Pole Day Shootout at Indianapolis.

Conditions remain mostly cloudy in Speedway, Indiana this morning with the temperature standing at 66 degrees Fahrenheit and a light northerly breeze along the main straightaway that parallels Georgetown Road. The forecast calls for continued partial cloud cover throughout the day with a high in the mid-seventies.
