Steady Progress for Dominguez and PCM
Indianapolis, IN -- Mario Dominguez and his PCM crew took full advantage of the running opportunities today at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. While the team did not present itself for a qualification run, Dominguez did turn 40 laps and recorded a top speed off 220.597, which was 2.7 mph quicker than his previous best. If weather permits, Dominguez and the PCM team will attempt to qualify tomorrow. Positions 1-11 were awarded today. Tomorrow, the remaining drivers will qualify for positions 12 -- 22; however rain is in the forecast. Should qualifying tomorrow be rained out, positions 12-33 will be awarded next Saturday.
MARIO DOMINGUEZ, #96 Visit Mexico City/Honda/Dallara/Firestone
Mario on the day: "We had some valuable time on the track and we made a lot of progress. We are still learning the car, but today, I'd say we learned a lot about it! We made adjustments in several areas, some worked, some didn't. We need to find more speed, but we are on the right track. We haven't been able to practice much because of the rain, but I'd say today was very positive. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather holds out tomorrow and we get another productive day of running in. We will give it a shot in qualifying tomorrow if Mother Nature cooperates!"
Today's travel tip from Mario: "When visiting Mexico City, you must check out Constitution Square at Zocalo. That is where we have the National palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral. This is the largest square in the Western Hemisphere and the third largest square in the world after Tiananmen Square in the center of Beijing and Red Square in Moscow. Each day the army has a flag ceremony and it is very nice to watch. The best place to watch this from is the Metropolitan Cathedral. When you visit Mexico City, make sure you visit Zocalo."
