INDIANAPOLIS (May 22, 2010) - Conquest Racing's Bertrand Baguette provisionally placed in the 24th spot in today's Pole Day qualifying session for the 2010 Indianapolis 500.

Belgian Baguette took to the track about halfway through the session for his qualifying run. He registered a first lap of 223.999 mph and improved his speed each time he crossed the start/finish line with laps of 224.219 mph, 224.243 mph and 224.297 mph. His four lap average speed was 224.189 mph which initially placed him 19th.

By time the gun went off at 4 p.m. ET signaling the end of qualifying for positions 1 thru 24, Baguette was 24th.

As for the Belgian's teammate, Brazilian Mario Romancini, he did attempt a qualifying run but his four lap average speed was not quick enough to keep him in the top 24. Romancini will try to qualify for his first Indy 500 tomorrow when positions 25 to 33 are up for grabs. Once those positions are filled, bumping into the 33-car field will begin.

24th - Bertrand Baguette, #36 RACB National Team
"It's a day filled with mixed emotions for me. I am happy to have provisionally placed into the field today for my first Indianapolis 500, but I am also disappointed because I felt that we could have been quicker. The guys have worked really hard this week, and things are looking good for us which is the most important thing."

Mario Romancini, #34 Conquest Racing
"Today wasn't the best day for us. We didn't make it into the top 24 which is definitely disappointing. We will debrief with the engineers tonight and figure what we are missing. I am confident we will be fine tomorrow even though there are still some strong guys who have yet to qualify, like Tony Kanaan and Paul Tracy."
