DREYER & REINBOLD RACING QUALIFIED 6TH AND 15TH AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY
Homestead, Florida (October 1, 2010) - Dreyer & Reinbold Racing's game plan for this weekend was to end the season on a high and that's exactly the direction they are headed in as they qualified for the Cafes do Brasil Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway today. The team's drivers Justin Wilson (No. 22 Z-Line Designs) and Ana Beatriz (No. 24 Roll Coater) both earned their best qualifying positions on an oval as they qualified 6th and 15th respectively.
DRR tested earlier this week at Homestead Speedway with both drivers. They were able to learn a number of things to help put them ahead of the game for this weekend. DRR's best finish at the track was 9th in 2009 with Tomas Scheckter.
Wilson wanted to earn a top-ten result this weekend and he is right on par with that thought process. This weekend will be the Brit's third time to compete at the 1.5-mile oval. In 2008, he started and finished 15th in his first start at this track. In 2009, he started 13th and finished in 10th place, earning his best result at Homestead. After a successful test and some good practice runs, the Brit was able to get the car just right. Today, Wilson recorded a two lap qualifying speed of 211.630 mph and will start 6th on the grid for tomorrow's race.
Since joining the IZOD IndyCar Series in 2008, Wilson has recorded seven top-10 finishes (2008: Kansas-9th, Milwaukee-7th, Richmond-7th, 2009: Chicagoland-10th, Homestead-10th, 2010: Indianapolis-7th, Chicago--7th) on ovals. He has led on an oval twice, (2008--Kansas led for five laps, 2010--Indianapolis 500--led for 11 laps). Before today, Wilson's previous best qualifying position on an oval was 8th at Kentucky in 2009.
Ana Beatriz made her return to Dreyer & Reinbold Racing this weekend as she is filling in for the injured Mike Conway. The Brazilian had a good, solid run in today's session as she qualified the No. 24 Roll Coater machine in 15th position for tomorrow's race, making this her best IZOD IndyCar qualifying result. Her two lap qualifying average was 210.715 mph.
So far this season, she has three starts for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing under her belt (Brazil, Indianapolis, and Chicago). Beatriz is visiting Homestead for her second time, but it will be her first time in the top level of the sport. Bia's previous start at the track was in the Firestone Indy Lights Series in 2008, the ladder program of the IZOD IndyCar Series.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will be on track tomorrow for the final round of the IZOD IndyCar Series in Miami. The race telecast will air live on Saturday, October 2nd at 6:00 pm (EDT) on VERSUS. The race will also air live on the IMS Radio Network, XM channel 145, and Sirius channel 212. For more updates on the team, please visit www.dreyerreinboldracing.com
What they have to say^a
Justin Wilson, No. 22 Z-Line Designs: "Today was great. We kept working on the car and got it perfect for qualifying. I'm really happy with what the guys did and I enjoyed driving the Z-Line Designs car. I just rode the white line all the way around and I think it's a great start to the weekend. Now, we are just trying to keep that going for the race and to make sure that we have a good car in traffic. Ideally, we are going to try and get a top-six result as well and that will finish the season on a high and be great for everyone at Dreyer & Reinbold Racing."
Ana Beatriz, No. 24 Roll Coater: "That was my best qualifying result in the IZOD IndyCar Series. It was a good run. Unfortunately, I had some issues with the rear of the car and lost some time out there. Luckily, Justin was really fast and we can compare with him and work on a good setup for the race."
