Hinch to stay with Andretti, with a switch to Honda expected

An official announcement is expected shortly

When it rains it pours.

Bourdais to KVSH was announced earlier today. This move was one of the potential changes expected in the IndyCar ranks.

This leaves one last driver looking for a place to go in 2014. James Hinchliffe.

Well, on the back of the Bourdais signing, this leaves only one option for the 3-time winner Hinchcliffe.

Stay at Andretti.

It is expected an announcement will be made at Fontant this weekend, but with one more tidbit of information.

Andretti Autosport will be switching to Honda. And Honda will be sponsoring Hinchcliffe.

With the announcement that Ganassi will be leaving Honda, that leaves a big ugly opening for the engine provider, with no powerhouse team representing their brand.

Andretti Autosport, which has had an up-and-down season with Chevrolet will announce a partnership with Honda. Because manufacturer contracts are not short ordeals, I think this is the best news that Hinch could have ever asked for.

Now, keep in mind folks, none of this if official. It’s simply the rumblings at the track.

More on this story as it develops.
