HVM Racing Rexall Edmonton Indy Fast Facts:
This weekend, the IndyCar Series will make its debut at the Edmonton City Centre Raceway. HVM Racing, previously competing in the Champ Car World Series, has three starts at the course.
HVM Racing, with driver Robert Doornbos, turned in the fastest lap during final practice last year at Edmonton.
E.J. Viso, who will be making his first start at Edmonton, is fourth in the Bombardier Rookie of The Year Standings despite having one less start than most of his competitors. Viso is ahead of three drivers who have started every race.
HVM Racing has finished equal or higher than their starting position in all but one event the team has competed in this season. The team averages an improvement of four positions.
Comments from HVM Racing Team Owner Keith Wiggins heading into this weekend's events:
"It is going to be nice to go back to a track that was a regular stop on the Champ Car circuit. I'm always cautious of being overconfident of anything because we know that the rest of these teams have a lot of experience .Still, this is the first time that the schedule has favored us. We have to keep our head down, work hard and take advantage of this opportunity.
"Unlike other unification teams going back to Edmonton, we don't have that complete package of team and driver who have the knowledge and notes of having been at a track together before. We've been fortunate this year that fact hasn't slowed us down, and we've actually had decent results at a lot of the new places we've raced.
"Edmonton can be an exciting track and it's going to be interesting. We know what it was like the past few seasons, but it's going to be different with these cars. It will still work out the same."
Comments from HVM Racing Team Driver E.J. Viso heading into this weekend's events:
"I'm sure Edmonton is going to be a fun track just like a lot of the new places that I've been to this season. This weekend won't be such a new challenge for the team because they have raced there in the past, but it's going to be a new track for me. I rely on my engineers and the experience of everyone on the team to make it an easy transition for me.
"It's really no different than what I've faced all season.A lot of tracks have been new, the cars are new and there are always things to work on and improve. The best part has been overcoming all the challenges the way we have. The results haven't always shown the progress we make during a weekend, but the finishes have still been pretty good.
"It's all been very positive, from the ovals to the road and street courses, and I expect nothing different this weekend."
