Power Leads Penske 1-2-3 in Edmonton Practice

Defending race winner Will Power led a Team Penske sweep of the top three positions in IZOD IndyCar Series practice Friday at the Edmonton City Centre Airport in preparation for Sunday's Honda Indy Edmonton. Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves, in the other Team Penske Honda Dallaras, rounded out the top three after a pair of hour-long practice sessions on the 1.9-mile temporary circuit.

Quickest in the opening practice, Target Chip Ganassi Racing's Dario Franchitti fell to fourth in the quicker second session, while KV Racing Technology rookie Takuma Sato posted a quick final lap to jump to fifth for the day.

IndyCar action continues tomorrow with Firestone "Fast Six" knockout qualifying to set the 25-car starting field. Sunday's 95-lap race, the final temporary circuit event of 2010, starts at 7 p.m. EDT, with live television coverage on Versus.

Will Power (#12 Team Penske Honda) quickest in practice, has four victories in 2010, leads the drivers' championship standings: "I was a bit surprised to be quickest, to be honest. The car doesn't really feel all that great right now, but sometimes a car doesn't have to feel very stable to be fast. I expect qualifying to be tougher, so we'll continue to try to improve the car for tomorrow."
