MIKE CONWAY AND DREYER & REINBOLD RACING COMPLETE FIRST ROAD COURSE TEST OF 2009
LEEDS, Ala - On Sunday and Monday, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing took part in the IndyCar Series open-test session at the Barber Motorsports Park just outside of Birmingham, Alabama.
Driver Mike Conway turned in 155 laps over the two days around the 2.38-mile road racing facility with a best lap of 117.120 mph (1:10.6965), leaving him 12th overall and second among IndyCar Series rookies.
Though Conway already had limited experience in an IndyCar Series machine on a road circuit, this was his first experience with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. The test allowed the team and Conway to learn each other's likes and dislikes in a racing car on this type of circuit.
The chemistry seemed to have come together on the second day as Conway was able to improve upon his first day's best lap by more than 1.1 seconds.
From here, Conway and the team will move on to the Sebring International Raceway for a one-day private test before heading to St. Petersburg, Florida, for the season-opening race on April 5th. The Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg can be seen live and in HD on VERSUS, with updates available on dreyerreinbold.com and indycar.com.

"It's been a good test. I think the last couple of days we definitely learned a lot about the car, not just the team but me also. We're just getting used to the car again on a road course. We struggled a bit on the first day, but the second day, we found a lot of time in the car. It was a lot easier to drive, and we gained a couple of seconds on new tires. That's a good thing, very encouraging. We just need to take what we learned at the test here and move forward to be strong for St. Pete."
Team Owner, Dennis Reinbold
"We learned a lot in the test this weekend in Barber Park. We made some big changes to the car in between Sunday and Monday, and we picked up a lot of time. It's good to be able to try different things out on the car and learn what works and what doesn't. I think we can take what we learned here and can expect to be competitive when we show up to the first race in St. Pete."
Team Owner, Robbie Buhl
"It was nice to see Mike get his first laps on a road course in our car. I think we all learned a lot this weekend, and we know we still have a lot more to learn in the upcoming days. We're really optimistic for the first race because we know that the potential is there and we're making gains every time we hit the track."
