Castroneves Quickest Again in Detroit

Coming off last week's victory at Infineon Raceway in California, Team Penske's Helio Castroneves led the second of two sessions and posted the fastest speed of the day as IndyCar Series practice began Friday on the temporary street circuit at Detroit's Belle Isle Park in preparation for Sunday's Detroit Indy Grand Prix.

Scott Dixon, who leads the IndyCar Series title fight by 43 points over Castroneves, was quickest in the morning practice, and second overall. Panther Racing's Vitor Meira jumped up from 10th in the morning session to third overall in the afternoon, followed by Ryan Briscoe and Danica Patrick.

Helio Castroneves (#3 Team Penske Honda) quickest in practice today: "It's certainly a good start for our weekend. Our car seems to running good, and this track is a lot of fun. It's challenging. There are a lot of second and third-gear corners, but the bumps are in different places and that makes it hard to keep the car balanced throughout an entire lap. You have to push hard to go quick here, and that's always fun. For sure, the track will be quicker tomorrow, and hopefully the sun will be shining all day."
