Teams got one final chance to shake down their machines Saturday morning.
Stefano Coletti continues his rookie campaign in the Verizon IndyCar Series by setting the fastest time in the morning warmup before today’s Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis.
Coletti’s lap of 1:10.5942 was two-tenths of a second faster than second best Simon Pagenaud’s lap of 1:10.8130.
The top five was filled out with Chevrolet runners as Scott Dixon, Sebastien Bourdais and Juan Pablo Montoya were ahead of the first Honda runner in sixth place in Graham Rahal.
Rahal’s fastest lap was .4739 seconds off of Coletti’s fastest time and that’s the smallest gap between the fastest Honda and the fastest Chevrolet of the weekend.
The rest of the top ten were Will Power, Luca Filippi, J.R. Hildebrand and Tony Kanaan, meaning that there were nine Chevrolets in the top ten.
The next quickest Honda was Takuma Sato’s in 12th. The fastest Honda from qualifying, Jack Hawksworth, was 14th in the morning warmup.
The race is this afternoon at 3:45.
