DETROIT – Next up for the Chevrolet IndyCar V6 teams and drivers is the Firestone 550 on the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway (TMS), the first in a four-race series on oval tracks (TMS, Milwaukee, Iowa, Pocono) for the IZOD IndyCar Series.

The Chevrolet contingent heads into this weekend’s 228-lap/324-mile/550 kilometer race with confidence after Team Chevy driver Tony Kanaan took home the victory in the first oval race of the season winning this year’s Indianapolis 500, and seven of the top-10 finishers were powered by the Chevrolet 2.2 liter V6 engine.

However, unlike the virtually flat Indianapolis Motor Speedway, TMS is a 24-degree banked tri-oval and will offer unique challenges in car preparation for the teams. In addition, racing at night under the lights changes the dynamics of getting the balance of maximum performance and durability for the long race.

"We are looking forward to powering our Team Chevy posse at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend after leaving the Detroit Belle Isle GP leading the Manufacturers points, and with three Chevy drivers at the top of the Driver's points tally,” said Chris Berube, Chevrolet Racing Program Manager for the IZOD IndyCar Series.

“The 2013 season has so far shown significant depth of talent and diversity of winners. Chevrolet and our technical partners are focused on providing the best power, reliability and support to our Team Chevy drivers and teams to put them in a position to recapture the podium."

Three current Team Chevy drivers have TMS victories on their resumes. Tied for the point’s lead with fellow Chevrolet V-6 powered driver Marco Andretti, Helio Castroneves has hoisted the trophy at TMS three-times (2004, 2006 & 2009). 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan won the Texas race in 2004 and Will Power wore the Texas-sized cowboy hat in 2011.

Before the green flag drops, the 2014 Corvette Stingray, which paced the Indianapolis 500 and Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit races, will take center stage. All of the 12 Chevrolet IndyCar V-6 drivers in the field for Saturday night’s race will follow the iconic nameplate on the pace laps prior to the green flag of the eighth race of the season.

For the fans, the Chevy Racing display will provide the opportunity to get up-close to many vehicles from the full Chevrolet line-up including: the all-new 2014 Impala, Malibu, Silverado, Corvette, Camaro, Volt and Traverse.

Also on display will be a variety of parts and accessories from Chevrolet Performance customers can get from their local Chevy dealer for their own Chevrolet. Crate engines will be on display, and interactive games will entertain fans of all ages.

Several of the Chevrolet IndyCar stars will make appearances at the Display throughout the race weekend. Fans should visit the Display for the driver line-up and times. The display will be open Friday from 11 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
