Wilson Hopes to Capture First Win of the Season in Europe
Justin Wilson will take any win at this point in 2007, but as he and the #9 CDW/RuSPORT team prepares for the first of two races in Europe, Wilson is hoping that he can capture that first win as close to his native home as he can, either in Belgium or Holland, during this next two-week stint of Champ Car racing action overseas. This will be the first time that Wilson races a Champ Car in Europe. As close to home as he can get, Wilson is excited for his return to race in Europe. Born in Sheffield, England, he looks forward to racing a Champ Car on European circuits in front of his family, friends, sponsors and fans that can make the trip to see him compete.
In three road course events this season, Justin Wilson has had his ups and downs in the #9 CDW Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone. In Portland, he earned his first pole position of the season, followed by his first podium finish in 2007. At Mont-Tremblant, he started fourth and grabbed a top-five finish. He struggled at Road America qualifying tenth and salvaging an eighth place finish. This will be the first time that Wilson and his RuSPORT team run at Circuit Zolder.
Wilson has started every event this season in the top ten and is the only Champ Car driver this season to start all ten races tenth or better. He has earned two pole positions (Portland and San Jose) and three podiums (Portland 2nd, Toronto 3rd, Edmonton 2nd).
Wilson continues to sit fourth in the Champ Car championship standings. He has accumulated a total of 190 points, and sits seven points out of the third, 23 points out of second.
