Another Top-Ten Qualifying Effort for Herdez Competition
Mario Dominguez, #55 Herdez/Lola/ Ford-Cosworth
Mario on the day: "I am actually quite happy because my crew did an awesome job getting my car fixed and back out in time for me to get a run in. We had a problem with the driveshaft in the qualifying warm-up so the guys had to take the car back and fix it in a very short amount of time. Considering I only had one run, a top-ten result is pretty good. There is still more potential in the car, I will sit down tonight with my engineers and find it so we can squeeze it out tomorrow."
Ryan Hunter-Reay, #4 Herdez/Lola/Ford-Cosworth
Ryan on the day: "The session went well initially. We knew we would need to get more out of the car in the second run and we actually over-compensated on the changes we made. Unfortunately we were not fast in the second run and we are sixth because of that. We definitely still have some work to do tonight but we are on the right track, my engineer has a good baseline and we'll just get faster from here."
Keith Wiggins, Co-Owner/Managing Director: "Mario had to do his laps in one run which probably hurt him a little, so I am a little disappointed that situation. In summary in both cars we just need to improve for tomorrow. It seems we've got a good basis with both and with a bit more work I am confident we should wind up ok tomorrow."
