Fernandez, Galles Racing International Optimistically Eye Vancouver Race

Vancouver, B.C., Canada - Adrian Fernandez, driver of the #10 Tecate Beer / Quaker State Lola Mercedes-Benz, is approaching the September 3 Molson Indy Vancouver with more than casual interest.

Coming off a disappointing finish at the August 20 running of the New England 200, Fernandez looks to take over 10th-place in the PPG Indy Car World Series points battle.

Last year, Fernandez qualified in the 11th position with a speed of 55.426 miles-per-hour. Race day found Fernandez running in he Top-5 most of the day, leading the first lap of his IndyCar career on lap 76. The team was forced to settle for a 22nd-place finish when the telemetry malfunctioned causing the car to run out of fuel.

"Vancouver is a difficult track," explained Fernandez. "It's extremely difficult to pass on. There's a new modification to the hairpin which will make it 150 feet longer and hopefully easier to maneuver. The Galles team has worked really hard getting my car ready after my crash in Loudon, so we should be very competitive."

The 102 lap dash around the 10-turn temporary road course circuit is scheduled for a 1:00 PM EDT start on Sunday, September 3. The race will be telecast on a delayed basis from 5:00-7:00 PM (EDT).
