Though no official announcement has been forthcoming, the fact that Skip Barber grad and Barber Dodge Pro Series standout Townsend Bell got behind of the wheel of a Patrick Racing’s Reynard Champ Car bodes well for the Californian. Bell completed over 350 miles of testing over the past two days at Sebring International Raceway.

Consistently lapping in the 52-second bracket, Bell hadn’t been to Sebring since his last run there in 1999 in the Barber Dodge Reynard.

” The test went really well,” said Patrick Racing’s Jim McGee. "We figured he would have a lot of experience at Sebring testing in Indy Lights, but that turned out not to be the case. His Indy Lights team (Bakersfield, Calif.-based Dorricott Racing) was located out in California, so the last time he ran at Sebring was in a Skip Barber car.”

McGee further reported that the test was considered a success as the team ran with boost settings in accordance to the 2002 regulations. He cited that Bell’s feedback was very useful.
