Toronto, Canada (July 08, 2005) Ryan Dalziel made his Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford debut today in Canada behind the wheel of the Dale Coyne Racing entered #19 American Medical Response Bridgestone/Ford-Cosworth/Lola.
The 23-year-old Scot, with just one day of testing heading into the weekend, took to the 1.755-mile street course in practice and first qualifying ahead of Sunday's 88-lap Molson Indy Toronto.
Dalziel set the 16th fastest time in this afternoon's qualifying session with his lap time of 1:00.877s averaging 103.783-mph. Paul Tracy, the home-town favorite and 2003 Series Champion, holds provisional pole heading into tomorrow's second and final qualifying session courtesy of a hot lap today of 58.877s.
Following Friday's on-track activities Ryan commented:
"I'm pretty happy with the first day here in Toronto. The car ran well all day and the lap times were pretty close. Obviously I'd like to be further up but there's more time in the car and there's more time in me. We've got some things we can look at tomorrow and hopefully we can get a top ten out of it. I have to thank Dale Coyne and American Medical Response for this opportunity and I look forward to see what happens tomorrow."
The Molson Indy Toronto, Round 6 of 14 in the 2005 Champ Car World Series, gets underway at Exhibition Place on Sunday 10th July at 1pm EST. The race will be broadcast live by CBS Sports with coverage starting at 12:30pm EST.
