Fernandez sixth in provisional qualifying at Toronto
Adrian Fernandez posted the sixth fastest time in provisional qualifying this afternoon during the only dry session of the day for the Champ Cars on the streets of Toronto. Intermittent rain fell during both morning sessions, with heavy rain interrupting the start of the second practice. Fernandez, whose best starting position at Toronto was third in 1996, will be looking to move up the grid tomorrow.
Adrian Fernandez, Owner/Driver -- #51 Tecate/Quaker State/Telmex Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone:
"In the rain, we were okay. We basically had one dry session and that was in qualifying. On our first run, a red flag came out on my fourth lap and that really didn't help us. We ran the same set of tires again, and didn't have enough laps left to run the second set. We did our fastest lap on our first run, and the track was at its best at the end. We just didn't have enough laps left."

Gustavo del Campo, Team Manager:
"We finished sixth and it was the first session that we could use slicks. It was the first normal session of the weekend. The forecast for tomorrow is calling for more rain, but I think we will be okay. We still have a chance at the front row tomorrow. We'll see. It will be fun. "
