Texaco Grand Prix of Houston Update... by Mike Stucker - Motorsport News International

Road work in downtown Houston, at the site of the Texaco GP of Houston, is nearly complete. The paving of Austin Street (the long backstretch) should be finished by the end of the week. Although the roads will reopen to the public soon, there will still be work crews out in July placing temporary seals over manhole covers.

ABC technicians have already been at the circuit to establish camera positions for their race coverage.

Bryan Herta, driver of the Shell sponsored Team Rahal Reynard-Ford, will be in Houston to inspect the course on Tuesday, July 14.

There are now two web sites set up for the Texaco GP of Houston. One is run by the Houston Chronicle newspaper and the other is the official race web site. Visit them at:

The first annual CART Texaco Grand Prix of Houston will be run on Sunday, October 4, 1998.
