"Before the start of the race, I was trying to get a feel for how much grip was out there and the next thing I knew I was off the track. So I had to pit and change the front wing which dropped me back to 22nd. Since we are down on power, I struggled all day just to keep up on the front straight. I did manage to work my way up through the field running as high as tenth, but I spun again which put us back to 16th. Obviously I'm disappointed Marlboro Team Penske didn't finish in the points, but we need to look forward and focus on the Cleveland race."

-- 13th place finish
-- Eighth place in the CART FedEx Championship Series point standings with 44 points

"With the handicap of being down on power, we started the race conservatively. On the first lap, the car got away from me in the wet and I went off course which put us a lap down. Our strategy was to top off on fuel and work on the Marlboro car during the yellows hoping that we would get our lap back when the leaders pitted. Unfortunately, there were so many yellows that didn't happen. We did get lucky that even without scoring any points this weekend, we still head to Cleveland second in the championship standings - only seven points behind (Kenny) Brack."

-- Helio Castroneves, Marlboro Team Penske, #3 2001 Marlboro Honda Reynard
-- 17th place finish
-- Second in the CART FedEx Championship Series point standings with 69 points, seven points out of first
