CART FedEx Championship Series: Round 2 of 19 - Twin Ring Motegi, Japan MOTEGI, Japan -- Team KOOL Green drivers Paul Tracy of Parker, Ariz. and Dario Franchitti of Pompano Beach, Fla., are sixth and 16th fastest in the first day of practice for the Budweiser 500 at the 1.549-mile Twin Ring oval. Only two-tenths of a second separate the two drivers, as Tracy turned a lap of 26.055 seconds, at 214.024 mph and Franchitti's fast lap was 25.820 seconds, an average of 215.972 mph. Both Tracy and Franchitti are trying to find the proper setup for getting through two vastly different corners. Corners one and two are a wide sweeping turn, while turns three and four are much tighter. The final session of the day ended with five minutes remaining after Greg Moore made contact with the wall, one of four caution periods that used up valuable track time. In anticipation of rain, CART has moved up Friday's practice and qualifying sessions. Practice is now from 9:00 am - 9:30 am, while qualifying is scheduled for 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Paul Tracy, #26 Team KOOL Green: "It's pretty disappointing because we're only four-tenths off the fastest lap but we're 16th. It's just that competitive out there. We're fighting a push in the middle of turns three and four. I hope we have time to fix the problem tomorrow, because if it does rain this might be our qualifying position." Dario Franchitti, #27 Team KOOL Green: "We worked really hard today, mainly on the chassis as the Honda engine has been strong the whole time. It's just a case of trying to get the chassis right. The two corners are completely different. What works for one, doesn't for the other." Barry Green, Team KOOL Green Owner "We're okay with Dario, but we're fighting to understand the understeer with Paul's car. We've got the same problem with Paul's car as we did in Homestead. We'll be okay though, we've got a few tricks up our sleeves still. . In addition, we had two big overrevs and had to change two engines after this morning's practice session."
