Alex Tagliani To MAMA Spring Collection 2004 At Road America
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (April 29,2004) - Rocketsports driver, Alex Tagliani joins the Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) for an exclusive two-day preview of over 60 new vehicles at Road America, courtesy of Bridgestone, title sponsor of the 2004 Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered By Ford. A variety of manufacturer representatives will also be on hand April 29th and 30th for an unprecedented range of activities, including on and off-road driving, track driving, karting and an autocross.
The second annual media event gives industry journalists an opportunity to test-drive numerous vehicles on the famed 4.048 mile permanent road course, set in picturesque Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. In addition to comparing notes with and gaining Tagliani's professional driving insight, media attendees will go karting with the driver of the No. 8 Johnson Controls Lola.
"Road America is one of the most fulfilling and enjoyable courses on the Champ Car circuit, and I welcome any opportunity to drive it," said Tagliani, who's earned two consecutive podium finishes and three top-three starts on the 49 year old track.
"I love to drive and am partial to my Johnson Controls Lola, but I'm excited to test-drive so many vehicles and judge their handling and performance. Of course it's not racing, so the performance expectations are different, but this is a great opportunity to be among a group of people who are just as interested and knowledgeable about cars. Lots of good feedback for manufacturers and consumers come from events like this.
"This will be a different experience on the track and I appreciate the invitation from Road America and Bridgestone. I'll be back to compete at Road America in August with my team and am confident that Rocketsports will continue to have good results here this year," concluded Tagliani.
Watch Tagliani and the Rocketsports crew compete for the Champ Car championship title in the No. 8 Lola, sponsored by Wisconsin-based Johnson Controls. The Grand Prix of Road America, Round Eight of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered By Ford, is set for August 8, 2004. The Champ Car World Series continues with Round Two in Monterrey, Mexico, where Tagliani captured the first podium finish for Rocketsports last season, and can be seen on Spike TV at 4:00 PM, Sunday May 23, 2004.
