The following statement is attributed to Tim Mayer, CART Senior Vice President of Special Projects, in regard to rumors surrounding the Honda Indy 300 at Surfers Paradise, Australia:

"There have been some questions raised about the status of our Australia race and I wanted to confirm that the race is scheduled to go on as planned. There is no truth to rumors that the race has been postponed or cancelled. As has been the case with each event since the September 11 tragedies, CART officials are working with the event promoter and the authorities to ensure that proper security measures are in place."

The following statement is attributed to Geoff Jones, Chief Executive Officer - Honda Indy 300:

"It has been business as usual the entire way through the recent tragedies. Unfortunately we have had some totally unfounded rumours circulated about the status of our event, but the first drivers arrive in the middle of next week and the cars will be touching down in Brisbane next weekend.

"Despite the rumours our ticket sales have continued to be strong and we encourage fans wanting to secure grandstand seats to get in as soon as possible because they are running out.

"Our staff are working around the clock to make this the biggest and best event yet and we are on target for a record year."
