Bridgeview, IL - The new Sigma Champcar Team continues to prepare for the 2001 FedEx CART season. Sigma, with headquarters located near Chicago, recently completed thee days of work on the Sigma/Lola at the Lola Technical facility in England. Sigma Technical Director David Luff was onsite at Lola while the chassis was put through its tests on Lola Cars

The data acquired will prove very useful to Sigma in setting the baseline for it's inaugural test sessions. The Lola Technical Facility is one of the best in the world and was at Sigma's disposal for the entire three-day test.

Team owner Tom Wieringa is positive about team progression.

" Everything is coming together as planned and I am looking forward to the next phase of the program," said Wieringa.

The team is looking forward to testing the chassis on a number of North American tracks and expects to begin after the arrival of the Lola on August 31st. Sigma's Atlantic oval testing has been useful up to this point and the team will use the Atlantic car one more time on September 12-13.

Sigma driver Max Wilson has just finished extensive tire testing on behalf of Michelin tires. The Brazilian driver tested for Michelin in conjunction with the Jaguar Formula One Team in Barcelona. Wilson will now turn his attention to Champcar testing in preparation for the 2001 CART season.
