Bridgeview, Ill. -- Sigma Autosport, the new team entry in the CART FedEx Championship Series, announced that it has begun construction on a 60,000-square-foot dedicated technical center. Located in Bolingbrook, Ill., the facility will be focused on the operation of the new race team.

Team owner Tom Wieringa's new team has recently completed shakedown and inaugural tests with its Sigma Ford/Lola, and will continue through December.

"We are striving to be the best at everything we do now and in the future," Wieringa said. "We have a great group of people at Sigma and are excited about the synergies which will evolve in working together in this new facility."

Sigma Autosport is scheduled to compete in the 2001 CART FedEx Championship Series with former Williams F1 test driver Max Wilson from Sao Paulo, Brazil. The team will conduct its second round of testing at Sebring International Raceway on December 9 and 10, 2000.
