PKV RACING TO CARRY TAYLOR WOODROW LOGO AT TAYLOR WOODROW GRAND PRIX OF SAN JOSE
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - - JULY 28, 2005 - - PKV Racing announced today that the #12 Gulfstream/PKV Racing machine piloted by Jimmy Vasser will carry the Taylor Woodrow logo during this weekend's Taylor Woodrow Grand Prix of San Jose, July 29-31, on the temporary street circuit in San Jose, CA.
Taylor Woodrow announced in June of this year that it would be the title sponsor of the inaugural Grand Prix of San Jose. The race will be contested on an approximately 1.6-mile, 11-turn downtown San Jose street circuit. The Taylor Woodrow Grand Prix of San Jose is the eighth stop on the 2005 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford schedule and northern California's historic first downtown street race. It is expected to draw over 100,000 spectators to northern California's largest city and is sure to become a mainstay on the Champ Car World Series calendar.
"Working with Jimmy Vasser and the PKV Racing team is the perfect compliment to our role as title sponsor of the inaugural San Jose race," said Mike Forsum, Western Regional President Taylor Woodrow North American. "What better way to show our support of this community then to partner with a local driver with a winning tradition that competes for a team with local ties."
Commenting on the relationship with Taylor Woodrow, PKV Racing co-owner Dan Pettit said,
"We are very pleased to be able to support Taylor Woodrow's sponsorship of the race in San Jose by giving them some additional value and exposure. We look forward to providing Taylor Woodrow's guests with an exciting and entertaining weekend of racing and, hopefully, putting the #12 Gulfstream/PKV Racing car with the Taylor Woodrow logo at the top of the podium on race day."
Founded in January 2003, Indianapolis-based PKV Racing enters its third season of competition during the 2005 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season. PKV Racing is owned by successful venture capitalists Kevin Kalkhoven, who also co-owns the Champ Car World Series, and Dan Pettit, along with 1996 Series Champion Jimmy Vasser. The team is managed by the most successful Manager/Chief Mechanic in USAC/CART/Champ Car history, Jim McGee, who has amassed 90 victories and nine national championships.
