Dominguez 14th, Figge 17th in Provisional Qualifying at San Jose
Pacific Coast Motorsports announced another partner today; Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. is the primary sponsor of the #28 car driven by Mario Dominguez, who is substituting for the injured Ryan Dalziel. Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. is the leader of concrete contracting in the San Francisco Bay Area, their motto
is "Just Get it Done," which Dominguez plans to do tomorrow!
Bryant Young (#97), the defensive tackle for the San Francisco 49'ers visited the PCM pits today. An avid fan of Champ Car, left the track to report to the first day of official 49'er practice today, in preparation for upcoming NFL season. The PCM team continued its development of the DP01 on the streets of San Jose today. Figge made light contact with the wall this morning but his #29 crew did an excellent job of repairing the car in time for final qualifying. While Mario and Alex were disappointed in their results this afternoon, they are working hard with their crew tonight to improve the car and strategize for the race tomorrow.
Alex on qualifying: "We had a lot of push on the red Bridgestone tires, but my team is working hard and together we will improve the car for tomorrow. We are going to work hard to have a good run in the Redback Networks car."
Mario on qualifying: "The session didn't go quite as well as we hoped, but I think Tim (Lewis, Race Engineer) made a lot of progress from yesterday and the car is a lot closer to my liking. We are having basic handling issues in every aspect breaking, oversteer and understeer. We made a bunch of changes throughout the day and we're learning, so I guess that is all we can ask for right now. This track is notorious for attrition, so we need to be there at the end."
