Servia Qualifies Fourth at San Jose

San Jose, California -- July 28, 2007 -- Oriol Servia qualified his #7 INDECK Champ Car in the fourth position for the San Jose Grand Prix at Redback Raceway in one of the closest qualifying sessions that the Champ Car World Series has seen in years. Teammate Paul Tracy was only .231s slower than the polesitter but managed only to secure the 11th position on the very tight grid for Sunday's race.

Oriol Servia turned his quick lap of 49.106s with only a few minutes to go on the session which at the time placed him on top of the charts. After the Spaniard completed his 15 allotted laps he had to watch from the pits as his competitors tried to knock him down from pole. Tracy only ran a limited amount of laps during morning practice due to slight contact with the Turn 7 tire wall. The 2003 Champion quickly got up to speed during qualifying turning a lap of 49.270s.

Oriol Servia
Qualified Fourth

"I'm very happy, obviously we wanted to be on pole and definitely had a car to be there, but we just couldn't do it. It was all about putting together a perfect lap, I had many laps where we were up a tenth but there was a lot happening today, we just kept having little lockups and small problems every lap. Today it was about hundreds not tenths so tiny things like that really hurt you. I'm pleased that we are competitive and we are in the game, I think we definitely have good car to fight for the win tomorrow."

Paul Tracy
Qualified 11th

"It was extremely close today, we should've gone a bit quickest but we just weren't able to improve with the Red Bridgestone Potenzas on our second stint. It's very frustrating because the field is so tight and not putting a lap in towards the end of qualifying really hurt us. The car has improved quite a bit, we've been having braking problems throughout the weekend but we made changes which improved that situation, I think we will be ok for the race the problem is our starting position"

The San Jose Grand Prix at Redback Raceway race will be broadcast LIVE July 29 at 6:00pm Eastern Time on ESPN2.
