Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford Taylor Woodrow Grand Prix of San Jose -- San Jose, Calif.

Track length: 1.448 miles (or 2.33 kilometers)

Potenza Race Tires Supplied: Bridgestone delivered 744 dry-condition and 304 wet-condition Potenza race tires for use this weekend. All were produced at the Bridgestone Technical Center in Akron, Ohio. For this event, Bridgestone has brought a single dry-tire specification and a single wet-tire specification, allowing every driver equal footing on the racetrack.

* Dry-condition tires ("slicks"): Each car receives nine sets of slicks (36 tires) for the weekend, to use in the practice, qualifying and race sessions. Bridgestone Motorsport has brought a brand-new specification for this weekend's event. The race tire development team has adopted a new raw material for Bridgestone's street-course application which provides increased grip without sacrificing wear. This new soft street course tire is expected to have performance standards similar to the tire used at Toronto earlier this season.

* Wet-condition tires ("rains"): Each car receives up to four new sets of grooved-tread Potenza rain tires per weekend on road and street courses, as needed. In addition, each car may use two sets of same-spec rain tires issued at a previous event. Bridgestone has two rain-tire specifications at its disposal, a more durable one for the faster road circuits and a softer version for the slower, tighter tracks. The softer rain tire is available this weekend.

Quote from Al Speyer, Executive Director, Bridgestone Motorsport: "New tracks are always a challenge for us, but we're very comfortable with the new tire we've brought this weekend. This is also a great market for our Bridgestone brand and we're excited to be here also for the marketing and promotional opportunities it provides. Also this weekend, we're playing host to Susan Robertson, who recently broke the land speed record for a woman on an open-wheel motorcycle equipped with Bridgestone Battlax motorcycle tires. She'll be available this weekend with her bike on display in our paddock area to greet fans and sign autographs. This is quite an impressive accomplishment for her and a testament to the strong performance of Bridgestone tires in all types of motorsports."
