San Jose, California (July 29, 2005) -- HVM, a competitor in the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, today announced Rodolfo Lavin as the driver of the #55 HVM/Ford-Cosworth/Lola.
Lavin, who turns 28 on Saturday, will make his HVM debut this weekend at the Taylor Woodrow Grand Prix of San Jose. Keith Wiggins, Owner and Managing Director welcomed Lavin to the team; "We are pleased to welcome Rodolfo to the team. He is a proven competitor in this series and his career made great progress over the past two seasons. HVM's original roots derived from Mexico and we have a great affection and experience working with Mexico and so we are happy to establish this relationship."
The native of San Luis Potosi, Mexico is in his third year of Champ Car competition. Voted the 2004 "Bosch Most Improved Driver," Lavin is coming off of his most successful year of Champ Car racing. He earned his first Champ Car podium finish last year at Road America when he finish second and started on the front row in Vancouver.
Lavin's 11-year relationship continues with the Mexican beer giant, Corona, and his #55 Champ Car will carry the Corona logo beginning at the Centrix Financial Grand Prix of Denver in two weeks time.
