Justin 6th in damp first qualifying at Road America

Justin posted the 6th fastest time (1.59.076s, 122.382 mph) in first qualifying for Sunday's Grand Prix of Road America. Though he was consistently at or near the top of the timesheets for most of the session, the lap times tumbled as a dry line emerged. Those who ran even a fraction of a lap longer than Justin found additional pace just when it counted.

Dan Clarke (CTE-HVM) and Charles Zwolsman (Mi-Jack Conquest) took the gamble to go for slick tyres in their second stint and secured pole (1.55.123s) and second place respectively for their efforts. 2004 race winner Alex Tagliani (Team Australia) was 3rd fastest, ahead of A.J. Allmendinger (Forsythe) and Sebastien Bourdais (Newman Haas).

"We were running well for the first half of the session. Everything was working well and the CDW team did a great job", said Justin. "But unfortunately we just weren't in the right place at the right time at the end. In these conditions you need some luck as well. The track was still damp in places, with wet patches and puddles, and each lap you had to hunt for a better line and more grip. We'll get back to work tonight and try to put in a better result tomorrow."
