Allmendinger Fourth, Tracy Eleventh In Provisional Qualifying at Road America

Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin - September 22, 2006 -- It was a cold and damp Friday at the Champ Car Grand Prix of Road America as the Forsythe Duo of A.J. Allmendinger and Paul Tracy encountered mixed results during provisional qualifying for Sunday's race. The Forsythe Team opted to finish the session on the wet Bridgestone Potenzas and was at the top of the charts until a few drivers that took a gamble and put on slick tires managed to go faster and surpassed Allmendinger who ultimately ended the session fourth quickest. Paul Tracy was fastest in a very wet morning practice but finished his qualifying a few minutes early, as he got out of his car conditions improved by the second and he had to watch from pit lane as he dropped from third to eleventh in a matter of minutes.

"The track conditions at the end there were pretty bad, it was just unpredictable, you would have a lot of grip in some parts of the track but then in a few of the corners it was just like a skating ring, so it was hard to judge how much you could push, you know you just don't have a lot of confidence on the car when it is like that. But we are at the front of the field which is what's important, we were one of the quickest cars on rain tires and regardless of what the conditions are tomorrow I know that the Forsythe Team will give me a great car and we'll be right up there fighting for Pole."

Paul Tracy

"Well it's just extremely frustrating, we were quickest this morning in the rain and during qualifying today when we were out there we were one of the quickest cars, but we just got the timing all wrong. By the time I finished my qualifying run there were still a few minutes left and when the track is drying you have to be out doing laps to the very last minute, we didn't do that so we just dropped like a brick.
