Heylen Finishes Provisional Qualifying 13th at the Champ Car Generac Grand Prix at Road America

Jan Finishes Morning Practice in Sixth Place Prior to a Late Afternoon Provisional Qualifying Session

Jan Heylen:

"This was a challenging provisional qualifying session for us today," said Heylen. "We were very confident that we were going to do well here and the team had been doing a lot of work since June's test to prepare for this weekend. We started with a pretty strong practice session and the warm up wasn't bad, we had some minor difficulties but we were able to get them all resolved. In the end we just weren't able to get our lap times down so we'll just have to work on getting a better position at tomorrow's final qualifying."

Chris Mower:

"This morning we picked up from where we left off after the productive test we had here in June," said Mower. "In the morning session we were progressing in the same direction and looking fairly competitive finishing in sixth place. Jan didn't find the track too difficult and we had a minimal amount of problems. In qualifying warm up this afternoon he ran a pretty quick lap but since it was after the checkered flag it was disallowed. That lap would have put us in the top five. In the qualifying session, we were quite surprised at how much the track had changed from the morning session due to the six different tire manufacturers and the amount of rubber laid on the track. Tonight we will be working hard to find an ideal setup that suits the quickly changing track conditions."

"We know we're not far off and a few minor changes should put us back up front for tomorrow's final qualifying session especially considering we have two new sets of the quicker 'Red' Bridgestone tires."
