Champ Car Grand Prix of Road America -- Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wis.
September 22-24, 2006 -- Round 12 of 14

Race Distance: 206.448 miles/332.246 km (51 laps on the 4.048-mile/6.515-km permanent road course).

Television Broadcast: Live -- Sunday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. EDT on Speed Channel.

Potenza Race Tires Supplied: Bridgestone delivered 748 dry-condition (''slicks'') and 308 wet-condition (''rains'') Potenza race tires for use this weekend. All were produced at the Bridgestone Technical Center in Akron, Ohio. Per Champ Car World Series regulations, Bridgestone brought two dry-tire specifications and a single wet-tire spec, broken down in the following manner:

* Standard dry-condition tires: Each car receives seven sets of standard specification slicks (28 tires) for the weekend, to use in the practice, qualifying and race sessions. The primary Potenza, new for 2006, is the most durable compound and construction specification in the current Bridgestone road-course tire family. This spec was available to teams that participated in the August open test at Road America.

* Alternate dry-condition tires: Each car receives two sets of alternate slicks (eight tires) to use this weekend; they are easily identified by their bright red sidewalls. At least one set of alternates must be used for a stint in Sunday's race. The Bridgestone alternate tire's construction is identical to the standard slick, but the alternate possesses a tread compound with better grip (''softer''), making it faster but possibly not quite as durable. A new tire for 2006 as well, teams at the Road America open test also logged track time on this spec.

* Wet-condition tires (''rains''): Each car receives up to four new sets of grooved-tread Potenza rain tires (16 tires) per weekend on road and street courses, as needed. In addition, each car may use two sets of same-spec rain tires issued at a previous event. Bridgestone officials opted for their ''harder,'' more durable rain-tire specification for this weekend.

Bridgestone Contributes to CARA Charities/Recovery Efforts for Cristiano da Matta: Bridgestone has contributed high-profile auction items to help raise funds for driver Cristiano da Matta, seriously injured during the August open test. Among the donations is a Road America weekend package for four auctioned on eBay that included three-day general admission/paddock passes, ''Fast Lap'' pace-car rides, admission to Bridgestone's hospitality area and more. A silent auction during the Champ Car Tailgate Party on Friday will include a unique Bridgestone Transit bicycle valued at $1,600; Potenza race tires autographed by drivers and dignitaries; a Bridgestone Motorsport jacket autographed by drivers; a set of Bridgestone passenger-car tires; and four photo collages highlighting Cristiano's career with the Bridgestone racing program, dating to his Indy Lights days.

Quote from Al Speyer, Executive Director, Bridgestone Motorsport: ''This weekend has two main objectives for us. Obviously there is the race itself, and we feel confident in the Bridgestone tires we're bringing since the identical dry specs performed well in the Road America open test just seven weeks ago. Second and more importantly, is the chance for the Champ Car community to celebrate the continuing recovery of Cristiano da Matta, who was injured at that open test, and the chance to raise money for his care and rehabilitation. Bridgestone Motorsport has offered some incredibly rare, special items for this great cause; we hope they inspire bidders to go above and beyond the call in helping our good friend Cristiano.''
