Vasser's History at Road America: 2003 will be Vasser's 10th start at the four-mile road course. His best start came in 1999 when he qualified sixth. His best finish was in 1995 when he took the checkered flag in third position. Vasser has qualified in the top-ten twice at Road America, but he has finished in the top-ten on six occasions, three of which were in the top-five.
Vasser suffered a gearbox failure last weekend at Vancouver, but only after 90 laps of hard-charging secured him a points paying position. Vasser's gearbox failed with ten laps remaining in the 100 lap race, he earned the 11th place position, which paid just two points, but moved him up one place in the championship point's standings.
Six contestants correctly chose the top three finishers in the correct order for last week's Vancouver edition of the "Pick the Podium" contest. Kurt Speir of Hemet, California was the winner of the Stefan Johansson watch; he was the first to enter with the correct choices. Visit www.AmericanSpiritTeamJohansson.com to play.
Vasser on Road America:
"Road America is without a doubt one of the finest racetracks in the world. As a driver, we all look forward to racing there every year. We are optimistic with the Reynard at Road America; the characteristics of the track should suit the Reynard much better than the city street circuits. I'm looking forward to it."
