Adrian Fernandez won his 6 race in his CART career this sunday in Rio de Janeiro.

The Rio 200 was held under a hot sun, with a temperature of over 40 celsius and with a blue sky.

At the start, Alex Tagliani held the lead and was in a pace of his own, while in the middle of the pack the fight for places was very hard.

The race had only 1 short yellow flag for Oriol Servia crashing at the warm-up lap and was being very fast.

Kenny Brack was also showing great form and was fighting for the win.

The brazilians had bad luck with Helio Castro Neves, Gil de Ferran, Tony Kanaan, Mauricio Gugelmin, Gualter Salles not finishing the race.

"Is is very disappointing not to finish at the home race, but let us focuse now on Motegi" said Helio.

At the end, with less than 20 laps to go, the lead was with Tagliani that seemed near of his first victory. Suddenly, the canadian got wide on Turn 1 and spun, making a big smoke and loosing his chance to win.

With 3 laps to go, the green flag came in but again Tagliani spun, this time on Turn 4, and the race finished on yellow flag.
