Rahal" "Last Ride" Continues

Detroit, MI (June 3, 1998) -- This weekend marks the final Detroit Grand Prix appearance as a driver for Bobby Rahal (Miller Lite Reynard Ford), one of only two drivers to have competed in every CART event at Detroit, along with Al Unser Jr. (Marlboro Penske Mercedes). Rahal won the inaugural event held on The Raceway at Belle Isle in 1992, and also scored podium finishes in 1990 and '91 with runner-up efforts on the old downtown Detroit street circuit. A three-time PPG Cup champion (1986, '87 and '92), Rahal comes to Detroit off a season-high fifth-place effort in last week's Miller Lite 200 at The Milwaukee Mile, which continued a streak of four consecutive PPG Cup points-paying finishes. He will make his CART-record 253rd career start Sunday afternoon.
