CHAMP CAR WORKING WITH INTEL TO PROVIDE FREE ACCESS TO RACE DIRECTOR FOR TAYLOR WOODROW GRAND PRIX OF SAN JOSE
INDIANAPOLIS (July 27, 2005) -- The Champ Car World Series is working with Intel Corporation to bring the very latest in up-to-the-second technology to fans of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, by providing Champ Car's Race Director application free of charge to fans around the world, including those using WiFi enabled laptop PCs, such as systems based on Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology, during the upcoming Taylor Woodrow Grand Prix of San Jose, July 29-31. The Race Director free trial can be accessed at the official website of the Champ Car World Series, www.champcar.ws.
In San Jose, Intel is also the primary sponsor of the #9 Intel Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone of Justin Wilson, who won the Bridgestone Pole Award for the Portland race while carrying the Intel colors on his RuSPORT car. Additionally, Intel is sponsoring the post-race chat with the San Jose race winner that takes place on the series' website.
With the help of Intel, Champ Car will provide free access to the subscription-only service to fans throughout the entire weekend, giving race fans access to live streaming audio and video as well as live timing and scoring of all on-track Champ Car sessions. Race Director also provides live in-car audio coverage, bringing fans inside the cockpit as their favorite drivers and teams work their way through the inaugural San Jose race weekend.
"We are excited about working with Intel, and are very pleased that they are providing such a valuable service to our loyal fans," said Champ Car President Dick Eidswick. "Our Race Director feature has been a resounding success in the last two years, and we expect even more interest once people are exposed to everything that Race Director offers to the Champ Car fan."
The inaugural Taylor Woodrow Grand Prix of San Jose will take place July 29-31 with practice and qualifying on both Friday and Saturday, with the race beginning at 2 p.m. local time on Sunday.
