Dominguez, Hunter-Reay earn top ten starts at Portland International Raceway
Mario Dominguez, #55 Herdez/Lola/ Ford-Cosworth
Qualifying 2: 5th 59.757 118.620
Mario on the day: "I am very happy because I think my engineer did a very good job with his strategy and getting my car ready. They decided to change my engine between practice and qualifying and I think that is a good idea. They gave me a set of the Bridgestone "Alternate" tires to use and they were very good. We were able to set a better time with those. I am pleased because this is my best start here in any series. I think tomorrow is looking good."
Ryan Hunter-Reay, #4 Herdez/Lola/Ford-Cosworth
Qualifying 2: 8th 59.926 118.286
Ryan on the day: "We are the only car that did not go faster on the soft compound so we are missing it somewhere. My guys are working hard and I have a great group behind me, so I know they will continue to improve the car, but I am definitely disappointed with our weekend up to this point. It's going to be a tough day at the office for us tomorrow, I am going to have to drive very aggressively to work my way up front, but at the same time keep a close eye on what's going on around me because this place can be pretty tricky, especially on the starts and re-starts. I have a great pit crew, they have been very fast all year and I will rely on them for some track position as well."
Keith Wiggins, Co-Owner/Managing Director: "I think we've got a bit of work to do tonight but I am confident we will be set for the race tomorrow. Both sides have done a great job with strategy and in the pits all year and I am sure they will do the same tomorrow."
