RANGER AND ZWOLSMAN 12TH AND 17TH IN PROVISIONAL QUALIFYING FOR CHAMP CAR GRAND PRIX OF PORTLAND
Portland, Oregon, June 16, 2006 -- With rain falling 30 minutes prior to the start of first round of qualifying for the Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland one might of thought that the provisional grid was going to be decided in wet conditions, but the skies cleared and the session was disputed under sunny skies. Mi-Jack Conquest Racing placed themselves 12th and 17th on the provisional grid with Andrew Ranger of Roxton Pond, Quebec putting in a lap of 59.633 seconds and Charles Zwolsman of the Netherlands placing 17th with a lap time of 60.612. Final qualifying will take place tomorrow at 4:45 p.m. ET.

"We had problems this morning with oversteer and again in the pre-qualifying practice session but we did some changes just before qualifying which paid off. Don (Bricker) my engineer did a great job. The car was much better and easier to drive. I'm 12th but it is really close out there. We are on the right track, and I am really happy with that. Tomorrow we will try and do better, hopefully the weather will be like today and we can continue to push hard and pick up a few tenths because with a field this close it can make all the difference."
Charles Zwolsman #34 Mi-Jack Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"Qualifying did not go too well. We had a lot of understeer and we're going to analyze the data and look at the car. The car was the same this morning, we made some changes but they didn't have the right effect. We just have to keep working hard and find the right balance on the car."
