Vasser and Gonzalez Let it Ride at Las Vegas Motor Speedway For Mid-Season Oval Tune Up.

INDIANAPOLIS (August 18, 2004) -- Champ Car veteran and Las Vegas resident Jimmy Vasser's (#12 Gulfstream Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) morning commute got a little shorter today as his PKV Racing squad invaded Sin City for the team's day-long test on Las Vegas Motor Speedway's high speed 1.5-mile oval. The 1996 Champ Car titlewinner and renowned oval specialist will get the luxury of driving to work today to meet teammate Roberto Gonzalez (#21 Nextel Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) and the rest of the team for two desert testing sessions (2:00 pm -- 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm -- 10:00 pm, local time) before the stakes are raised September 25th at the Champ Car Las Vegas 400 under the lights.

The Las Vegas test will be the team's only tune-up before Vasser and Gonzalez unleash their 750hp turbocharged PKV Lolas on the oval in next month's 165-lap dogfight (Spike TV, 4:00 ET/PT), which will run in conjunction with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event earlier that evening.

Following the test, PKV will travel to the beautiful Isle de Notre Dame and its 2.709-mile Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, August 29th (Spike TV, 4:00 pm ET/PT) for the Round 10 Molson Indy Montreal, where Vasser is scheduled to break Al Unser Jr.'s all-time Champ Car record of consecutive starts when he takes the green flag for the 193rd straight time.
