Pizza Hut gains speed with Team Player's Racing partnership.
Two-year deal to promote Pizza Hut's 310-10-10 delivery service.
(Toronto June 25, 2002) Today, Pizza Hut Canada and Team Player's announced a two-year partnership deal to promote Pizza Hut's 310-10-10 delivery service hotline across Canada.
"We couldn't think of a better partnership than racing, or a better team than Canada's own Team Player's, to help bring the message of 310-10-10 to Canadians," said John Bitove, Chairman and founder, priszm brandz, operator of the majority of Canada's Pizza Hut restaurants. "In the pizza business, it's all about delivering a hot, fresh, great tasting pizza quickly to our customer's door."
The Pizza Hut / Team Player's partnership was announced today at a press conference.
Millions will see Pizza Hut's 310-10-10 hotline this summer, as it will adorn the racecar of Team Player's drivers, Alex Tagliani and Patrick Carpentier. The Pizza Hut / Team Player's sponsorship package includes in-car camera TV coverage of Canada's three Indy races: Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. Team Player's will provide name and racing imagery to Pizza Hut for use in merchandising, advertising and in-store P.O.P.
Continuing to link sports to its marketing strategy, Pizza Hut will launch an in-store racing-themed 310-10-10 summer promotion beginning July 1.
In announcing the agreement, Mark Thorne, Marketing Communications Manager for Player's, reinforced the strong partnership. "Pizza Hut's promotion of Team Player's, our drivers and the sport overall strengthens our connection with Canadian sports fans. We think it's a great alignment and hope to see the partnership grow in future years," stated Thorne.
At today's press conference, Tagliani and Carpentier were on hand to give a driving demonstration to Pizza Hut delivery staff.
"It's always fun to perform in front of all kinds of racing enthusiasts I'm just glad they didn't ask me to make a pizza," joked Carpentier.
Team Player's, the only Canadian team in the CART Championship, has raced in the series since 1994, and one year later, its driver Jacques Villeneuve became the first Canadian to win the famed Indy 500 and the CART drivers' championship. Over the years, Team Player's drivers have included Greg Moore, Patrick Carpentier and Alex Tagliani.
Pizza Hut, Canada's number one pizza franchise, was the first to stuff its crust, twist off its breadsticks, create a pizza you eat like a sandwich, and bring toppings to the edge.
priszm brandz, which owns 70 percent of Canada's Pizza Hut restaurants, is the largest operator of restaurants in the country and is a privately owned company that currently operates more than 760 KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants and employs 16,000 people in 450 communities in Canada.
